The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health EP by Barnett Noumenon

The “Centre for Mental Health and Addiction “ or CAMH ep, as well as the instrumental single DEPORT ME TOO are the latest releases from Barnett Noumenon, the contemporary avant-grade literary figure and hip hop artist also know as Pidgeon Phoenix, who also is known by his name properly that is Andrew Mbona Aka ANDREW MBUNI aka ANDREW MBAKU AKA Andrew Mbaruk. Also known as Andrew MBORO, as whom once sang thusly:

“Is glossolalia back in fashion? Intoxicated off this absinthe. This fallen angels been a has been all this life the reincarnation of a black queen, his every juxtaposition a dank meme on its own, this green Don Juan gone wrong, this newcomer to the rap scene, sing song”

(From the song “MINIATURE MALACHITE MESSIAHS”)

Known collectively as the band LITTLE GREEN CHRISTS; Mbaruk sings, Mburu and Mboro play synthesizers, Mbona presses buttons on a drum machine, Mbuni plays a bass guitar.

“His new stuff as Lil Ghostwriter was an attempt at a more mainstream hip hop direction, and it was as Lil Ghostwriter that he managed -- if only somewhat -- to make the people forget he was ever a Little Green Christ. Unspeakable this scheme... repeatable his meme. You dig?”

Mbunu explains it thusly:

“See, the sound waves had magical properties whose effects we were focusing on these carbon dioxide molecules... On contact with the sound waves, these molecules, were supposed to...

(breathes deeply through a marijuana joint)

It was our intent to...

(coughs)

to cause the physical matter to become ... metaphysical, ghostly, (mostly) nothingness”

MBUNI elaborates further:

“Dig... the gravity... of your fall from the actual... upon the concrete, broken glass and gravel... of nonexistence... You've been invited to the rap battle... at God's insistence, but you fear you won't get it right... as the deer in headlights... Out searching for butterflies... outversing those other prideful rappers... I caught a mourning cloak in the net afterward slow to get the same paralysis, I had a morning toke of the cannabis... As any other churl could entertain with insulting randomness... as the 'many worlds' interpretation of quantum mechanics... so these rhymes a multiverse of realities...”

MBARUK expounds thusly:

“these Seattles of balladry, Vancouvers of gallantry, these courtly nightly arrangements, these absorbent brightly remaining spongy lights immortal jellies of the Mediate remain within buoyant as water-planes ineffaceable symbols of amphibious avian behaviour among the human... straying on vacation this saviour in language again.... playing this strange game to gain not a thing, to lose... atop the pot shop as the god in winged shoes... emblematic sculpture symbolizing the mind's power, verily erratic sculptor devising as Eisenhower... his doctrine, these raps... appallingly unfashionable to the lower-level hipsters... though bowling over those soul sisters... with older vision and verse... revealing this system as the worst of all possible governments... the furthest from the laws most fundamental... entrenched biologically, the peacefulness of the noble savage... damaged... by the civilizing global averageness... Calamitous...

transforming the planet thus... fear in a handful of dust... multitudinously simultaneous, pilloried for the rhymes I spit, I'm a slave to the fuckin' rap game tarred and feathery, my wave function collapsin' as they try to measure me... I go off in either direction fated for the road undertravelled and the road overrated...”

(From the song: 'Many Worlds')

those of us who remember Andrew from high school will remember and maybe tell you he was the most studious -- excelled -- in math and science, yet he was proudly the least disciplined in social studies, history, English, and despite -- or perhaps because of -- the fact that his true passion at that time was for language ... He was truly a frequent truant frequenting the cinema with his friends, Carl, Frank and Paul... Yet he still managed to maintain a B+ average, he'd humbly say to anybody doubting his intellect given the continuous truancy... He did excel at everything he put his mind to, focusing in his free time on languages, learning French, Spanish, Italian, German, Latin and Ancient Greek. So, Linda, his mother, and his friends Carl, Frank and Paul... we were certain he'd study comparative literature or something in university... But!... Andrew would continually surprise us -- he totally surprised us all ... by devoting himself wholly to environmental studies at the University of Victoria... He worked on ecological restoration projects, met Donald, Helen, and Rachel... and we all thought he'd spend the rest of his life as an environmental scientist... and then he joined what we now know to be one of the most beloved of the under-under-the-underground bands of Canada's underground. Well. But. yes, he was the bassist in a hip band of colourful outsider musicians. But for the protesting pipelines, and the devotion to educating his friends and colleagues about climate science and climate change. It's for these and other green things that Andrew Mbaku will be most remembered by those closest to him. And to remember Andrew will be to remember Nature, our environment, and to fight for the Earth.

Andrew concludes thusly:

“I'm not Andrew. I've changed my name. It's Barnett Noumenon. It's been Lil Ghostwriter for two years and now it’s Barnett Noumenon.”
